If you got your copy of Google Earth from the Direct Installer Links on, there's nothing wrong with it. The message 'The URL does not appear to be valid, or the server may be temporarily down.'
“We are unable to connect to the Google Earth servers” or Google Earth is displaying a green or black screen Matt Egan [ Reply ] Unable to connect via socks5/http proxy.
Is usually temporary and means there is an internet connection problem. If the message continues, you will need to look at your firewall or anti-virus settings.
If your connection is through a router, it's possible you may need to change it's settings. If you are at work and your connection is behind an authenticating proxy server, contact IT. Thanks 'A Evans' This seems to work, and very simple too!
I downloaded the 3rd one on the list (not sure of the version number) It said it was the first one with street view! Anyway - thanks. Here is the solution to the ICON PROBLEM with Google Earth: This gives alternative downloads for Google Earth and a little older version than the current installer (as of Jan 29, 2016) that automatically deletes the icon when you install this version, will allow you to keep the files intact AND also retain the icon. I get error 1603 as well and I have thoroughly checked for a pre-existing version of google earth and not found one or have erased every instance of anything related to google earth.
I still get error 1603 every time I try to download Google Earth. I do get the installation program downloaded, and when I run it it indicates it is installing Google Earth, but that is immediately followed by error 1603. This is a new Dell laptop.
Ample disk space and few other programs. Google Chrome loaded fine and works. Same with Libra Office and Open Office. It has to be some incompatibility with Win 10. Alchemist251 16/3/2016, 8:28 น. I'm adding a response here to help folks who may have run into the problem I was having. I upgraded my Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro and for the longest time after the update I kept running into installation/upgrade issues with various applications including iTunes, Skype, Google utilities (remote desktop), etc.
The event log would show that the installer errors out for various but one of the common errors would be 1603 or 1602 etc. I was just living with an older version of iTunes. The problem seemed like some sort of permissions issue but I don't fully understand Window's permissions on the various folders. So searching around I ran into this tool from the to repair a windows installation and so I downloaded their free version and ran it and to my surprise it fixed the problems.
The program runs a bunch of different Microsoft tools to fix-up your Windows installation and some of these tools take a while to complete. I think on my system, the tweaking program ran for 2+ hrs in safe mode.
But one of the areas it 'fixes' is to set all the default permissions to the various folders (Program Files, Windows, etc.). I don't know why my system was messed up and can only assume it was the 'windows 10 update' that didn't handle things well but the tweaking tool fixed it for me and now I'm able to install all of the problem programs. The tool is also real good at telling the user (and providing an interface) to 1) backup their registry, and 2) create a save point in case things go badly. 'Tweaking.com - Windows Repair' at p.s. I'm not affiliated with the tweaking folks and I'll point out that the free version of their tool fixed my problem.

In this tutorial we will show you how to install Google Earth on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. For those of you who didn’t know, Google Earth is a virtual globe that lets you travel anywhere sitting right in front of your desk.
You can explore any place on earth (even in 3D) and also beyond earth. You can explore the surface of the Moon and Mars, and explore the stars in the night sky. This article assumes you have at least basic knowledge of Linux, know how to use the shell, and most importantly, you host your site on your own VPS.
The installation is quite simple and assumes you are running in the root account, if not you may need to add ‘sudo’ to the commands to get root privileges. I will show you through the step by step installation Google Earth on an Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic Beaver server. Install Google Earth on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Bionic Beaver Step 1. First make sure that all your system packages are up-to-date by running these following apt-get commands in the terminal.
